(Columnist Michael P. Tremoglie forwarded us this email that he has sent out to some conservative college professors and we liked it so much that we decided to post it on the blog)

Ron Paul has already demonstrated he is a fringe candidate whose attitude and beliefs approach Rosie O'Donnell's bizarreness. This case was closed when he made his "we caused 9-11" remark during the debate.

Iraq is unpopular not because of it's merit, or lack of merit, it is because GW has done very little to inspire people. When one considers that during the least controversial war in US history, WWII, FDR was continually engaging the public with periodic fireside chats while, during this very controversial war, Bush hides in the White House, it is amazing that anybody still supports the war in Iraq.

As I said before though, with or without Iraq, with or without the immigration issue, a Republican being elected president in 2008 is doubtful. The office is for the Democrats to lose right now simply because of the odds of one party keeping the office for three terms.

I’d like to thank Charles Johnson for giving me an opportunity to talk to his readers at Little Green Footballs about Israel.

I strongly support the wall that the Israelis have built, which has greatly reduced terrorist attacks — and believe that it’s very important for the United States to help Israel improve its missile defense in order to prevent the sort of attacks that country suffered during its war with Hezbollah last year. Incidentally, I’ve been encouraging Israel to build up her missile defense since back in 1987 as well as supporting the funding of joint missile defense technology programs such as the Arrow program.

("This was submitted to the page by a reader and I thought it was worth publishing." -- John Hawkins, consultant with the Hunter campaign.

After reading Congressman Hunter's core principles, I was so moved that I sent this email to my entire mailing list-feel free to pass on any part of it to yours.

    Hi guys,

Perhaps, like me, you have been wondering if there is a presidential candidate you could enthusiastically support in 2008. Please go to www.gohunter08.com and click on the core values link to read what Duncan Hunter believes and has supported. I personally knew almost nothing about this guy till my mom read me a campaign letter she got by mistake! This guy deserves our support-we don't have to settle for a Gingrich or Giuliani because we have nowhere else to go!

When my dad was alive and I would bewail the state of our republic and wonder what the world was coming to, he would tell me that God would send us the man we needed at the time we needed him-"a man on a white horse" he called it. Ronald Reagan was one of those men and everybody thought he didn't have a chance, but he was God's man for that time and through him our great country found its bearings for awhile. Now we are in an even bigger mess than we were then, and we need a man of principle and strength more than ever. Maybe Duncan Hunter is that man, and if he is, and if we get behind him, maybe once more God will give America another chance, another season to be the last best hope for the world.

So let's get the word out about Duncan Hunter. With the power of the internet, and by the grace of God, this guy can become known overnight. The regular politicians and main contenders and the mainstream media don't want the competition, don't want a candidate who gives straight answers about what he believes, and especially don't want Americans to know they have a choice. Please read the info at www.gohunter08.com and please send this information to your whole mailing list.

    God bless America!

    Pam

On this Memorial Day, let us remember the Americans who died on the battlefields of the world for us.

You know the Bible tells us “greater love hath no man than he who lays down his life for another.” In the last century alone 619,000 American service members laid down their lives for us. They fought in Bellawood, Guadalcanal, the Chosin Reservoir and Kason Vietnam. Today they fight in places called Fallujah and Baghdad and Kabul.

They are America’s greatest generation. We owe them our heartfelt support and the gratitude of a free nation.

And the man of the hour is confident — Duncan Hunter knows he has friends in South Carolina. His platform issues of immigration control, a strong national defense and a “get tough” policy with China (over the rejuvenation of a flagging textile industry that has eroded thousands of once high-paying jobs overseas) resonates with hard-working Carolinians.

“South Carolina is a key state, and in my opinion the most important of the early primary states,” Hunter said. “South Carolina is a state with good traction on many of my main issues. They want a fence built (to keep out illegals), and they want their high-paying jobs back they lost to China.”

Hunter claims his having spearheaded the building of such a fence near San Diego, Calif., has helped drug trafficking to be cut by 90 percent, and that crime in the city itself has been reduced 50 percent.

Sixty years ago, Chuck Yeager beat the odds and broke the sound barrier. Today, the famed pilot is supporting California Rep. Duncan Hunter's presidential bid - an endorsement Hunter supporters hope will break some barriers itself.

The two kicked off a brief tour of South Carolina late Monday at the Beacon Drive-In. They're riding a bus called "The Right Stuff Express," a play on the title of Tom Wolfe's book about Yeager, and on the name of a certain Arizona senator's campaign.

If he becomes president, Rep. Duncan Hunter says he will continue to hold the position that Israel should surrender "not one inch" of disputed territory to the Arabs in exchange for pledges of peace.

Addressing a Christian Zionist meeting in Alexandria, Va., Sunday evening, the California Republican recalled a visit with his father to the Golan Heights, where they viewed a narrow valley where a small number of Israeli tanks had held off more than 1,400 Soviet-built Syrian tanks during the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., a GOP candidate for president in 2008, vowed to oppose immigration legislation approved by the Senate on Thursday.

Hunter said the new immigration deal rewards lawbreakers and does little to stem the flow of illegals across U.S. borders.

"This Senate bill is bad for Americans, bad for our workers, bad for law enforcement and, most importantly, bad for national security," Hunter said.

The new legislation was drafted and supported by Democratic Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-Mass., and Republican Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

HH: Now, I’m joined by Congressman Duncan Hunter of the Armed Services Committee. Congressman Hunter, what do you make of the Senate deal?

DH: Well, from what we’ve seen of the deal, it’s a bad thing. I would, if I was president, I would veto it. And specifically, I wrote the law that mandates the 854 mile border fence, It’s been advertised as 700 plus miles, but if you add up the actual mileages that were mandated, these smugglers’ routes, it’s 854 miles.

HH: Is that double fencing, Congressman Hunter?

DH: That’s double fencing. 854 miles of double fencing, and you know it works in San Diego, it’s knocked back smuggling by more than 90%.

HH: Of course it works. When people tell me, you know, a ten foot fence, bring an eleven foot ladder, they’re idiots.

DH: Yeah. Well, you know, it’s interesting, the Governor of Arizona says that, and then she says in the same press conference, doggone those Californians, they fenced their areas, and now everybody’s coming through Arizona. So in one breath, she’s saying that the fence doesn’t work, and the second breath is it’s working too well.

Yesterday, I received an email from Duncan Hunter's campaign for President and, I must admit, it is really clever. The email, exclusively for those working in the media, stated in the subject line that "A US Congressman wants to talk to you" and had the following message:

"United States Congressman Trent Franks (photo) of Phoenix wants to discuss politics with the media. He is so inspired by the candidacy of fellow Congressman Duncan Hunter that he is offering his personal cell phone number (202) ###-#### to the media. It is another sign of the growing traction the Hunter for President Campaign is getting as it travels through the early primary states. Franks has been an ardent supporter of Hunter since his campaign began. He is offering media interviews to analyze the recent South Carolina debate where Hunter scored very high, as declared by political strategists. 'I vision Duncan Hunter in the White House in 2009 and I want to visit with the media representatives to explain why.' Franks describes Hunter as, 'One part Ronald Reagan and one part John Wayne. 'Franks said he believes Hunter possesses the strength of character and the leadership qualities Americans want. He added, 'Duncan Hunter is the right man at the right time for the right reasons.'"

In the old days I use to do campaign consulting, so I find this idea interesting and if its objective was to get me to call, it worked. Sure enough, the very friendly Congressman answered the phone and we visited for several minutes as he walked to cast a vote. He is very passionate in his support and sincerely believes in Hunter and (to listen to him), his chances of winning.

Hunter is fortunate to have such a passionate ally and an excellent "guerrilla marketing" staff. Furthermore, Trent Franks is a winner himself in this program, because many in the media who are not familiar with him will likely remember him because of his involvement in this innovative project. This week, I have to give the Hunter campaign an A+ for effort.
